 speed limit
 By: anonymous - 2000-03-23

It doesn't matter if the speed limit is 65,70, or 80 some ppl will still try to go as fast as they think they can without getting caught. There needs to be stricter rules for traffic violations including but not limited to speeding.

The speed limit in TN is 70mph. That little bit of extra speed really adds up on a long haul. We just came back from the International Window Cleaning convention in Anaheim, CA. The drive was 5,000 miles round trip. 75mph was the fastest speed we encountered across the country. I looked forward to that speed when trying to make it across New Mexico, but I'm glad we don't have it here. Rob's Window Cleaning

I think that the higher kentucky puts the speed limit on there highways the more likely more people will usually go 5 miles or more faster then it. Which is one of the reasons why I voted no.
 Yeah...

I want the speed limit to be 70 mph for cars, for trucks however, it should remain 65 mph, us Bluegrass folk gotta get moving!

Speed Limit 65 is slow for me
 By: Steven Davis - 2003-08-28

Right on Bob! but I hope you mean 120 km/h (75 mph) not 120 miles, that's unresonable! lol, all kidding aside, let's pray the state capitol does something about this, 65 mph is too slow these days, especially with our hectic lives.

 70 mph for Kentucky!
 By: Jim Bean - 2004-07-31

I believe it should be 70 mph for all vehicles, it's already 70 in Missouri and Tennessee
 Why complain about 65
 By: Trucker - 2004-07-31

HEY! DON'T COMPLAIN, AT LEAST IN KENTUCKY IT'S 65 MPH FOR ALL VEHICLES! IN INDIANA IT'S 60 FOR TRUCKS (over 13 tons), AND IN ILLINOIS AND OHIO IT'S 55 MPH FOR TRUCKS (over 4 tons)
 Speed Limit 65 Cars/Trucks
 By: Jim Davis - 2004-07-31

come on whiners! at least your state does not have a truck restricted speed limit like Indiana, where it's 60 or Ohio, where it's 55

 By: PAUL - 2005-02-26

KENTUCKY AND INDIANA NEED TO RAISE THEIR SPEED LIMIT SO OTHER EASTERN STATES HAVE A CHANCE TO RAISED TO 70 OR 75 MPH. VA. UP TO MAINE IS DOOMED TO 65MPH IF THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE WEST'S 70 MPH. VA. WILL BE THE HARDEST ONE TO CHANGE.
 Speed Limit in Ohio
 By: Stacie - 2005-05-01

The speed limit on the Ohio Turnpike is 65 mph for trucks and cars now! For cars though everything is 65 mph.
 speed limits in general
 By: Ash - 2005-11-22

The US department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administation did a study, "Report No.FHWA-RD-92-084" that concluded "the majority of speed limits are posed below the average speed of traffic. Lowering speed limits below the 50th percentile does not reduce accidents, but does significantly increase driver violations of the speed limit. Conversely, raising the posted speed limits did not increase speeds or accidents.”
As a result to this study Montana has removed all speed limits during the day, yet no one abuses this responsability as predicted.

I think that the speed limit should be at least 80 mph on the interstate because noone will wreck on a straight stretch unless they just don't know how to drive.
