 Paducah
 By: FlyontheWall - 2002-01-12

Paducah can greatly benefit from the new Performing Arts Center. This will be a good thing for Paducah. Concerts, Broadway Style Plays, etc....There will finally be a good place to be entertained. You can't "Poo-Poo" Paducah. :-)
 Paducah Improvements

The Performing Arts Center would most improve Paducah. This is the largest city in the area, so we should offer a variety of different types of entertainment to continue drawing visitors.
 Industrial base
 By: H. Horace Hunerboug, 3rd - 2002-06-02

Hello? People....?? Paducah needs an Industrial base..... not more malls or art centers. You cannot go to an Art Festival and participate if you ain't got cash. We need something that will keep the young people here. We need to build up our technology base and promote our concerns toward factories and industries.
We have two major rivers and several rail lines and soon possibly up to three interstate highways in the region, get a clue from Cairo and do what they did not... Industry for our future not more Arts and Crafts....
 Industry
 By: Eddie Dillon - 2002-07-12

I agree with H. Horace. I was forced to move away from the Western Kentucky area because there just wasn't enough technology jobs to get one. I was offered a job with the first place I applied for in Louisville, KY and I took it get some experience. The Arts and Crafts stuff would come if more business was generated. The only reason Louisville is as big as it is now (1,000,000+ people) is because of industry, everything else comes with the big business.

 hello!?
now matter how many jobs we have or what entertainment complexes we enjoy, all will be useless if Illinois attacks!!! and they will!!! we need the robot Army. I surprised it has only recieved 25% of the vote, If we dont need a robot army now, Then WHEN???
 "Industry!!", not Arts
 By: Robert Berry - 2002-09-10

H.H.H. and Eddie are absolutely right. Paducah has access to the North and Northest and Northwest and Eastern Seaboboard via the Ohio, the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. The Ohio and Mississippi Rivers provide an access to Central and South America.
Paducah has access to the Canadian Continent and the Pacific Realm via Canandian National rail lines [Illinois Central's parent]. The CN may merge with BNSF [Burlington Northern Santa Fe] and that would create an even larger market w/ enormous growth potential.
Paducah, as H. Horace, 3rd points out, has access to Interstate Highways 24 & 57. Paducah will have access to Interstates 66 [east to west intra-continental, 69 [north-south inter-continental]. Vicariously, Paducah already has connections to Interstates 40, 55, 64, 65, & 75.
Paducah has the Kentucky Lake Development Area, and Coal Mining resouorces, and unlimited supply of youth growing up in that area that would stay in the Area if you had Industry, Factories, and Technology close to home. Arts are a by product of a growing community, not a developmental tool for a city.
The largest cities [St. Louis, Memphis, and Nashville] are far enough away that they would not directly affect the region.
Paducah, wake up!! You are a beautiful city on the edge of great realities. Go For It! Lure Industry and Technology and your future will be secure.
My Grandfather worked for L.S. DuBois for many years. One thing he always said that is always true....., "You cannot do business with people that have no money"

 ice skating rink
 By: justin anderson - 2002-12-06

western kentucky is so boring, we need some more entertainment, ice skating is way better than roller skating yet there are 3 in western kentucky
if people wanted to play hockey or ice skate they would have to come to paducah.
 paducah and what it need',.
 By: tparker - 2002-12-27

Paducah like one writer stated is the largest city in the region, and the only thing there is quilting.Let's get real, industrial base economy is what paducah needs.Look at our water ways and rail ways and tell me paducah can't support and industrial boom. You look around the city and you see people needing real work not real 24hr wall-mart's.To the mayor of my beloved city.Do something about stiring up big business to the local economy.Get the job's here and watch paducah become what we know will be.

 arts
 By: bill - 2003-03-31

the problem with bringing industry into paducah is what will draw the business here. many companies before moving operations to a new area ask questions like, "what kind of culture does the area have? what is the state of schools?" art centers and higher school taxes are crucial in the overall development of the area, including in the attraction of industry to our area. bottom line is and i hate to say it but the businesses wont come if we continue to cherish high dropout rates and now cultural influences.
 Education
 By: rob - 2003-06-04

hello, wake up.. Paducah lacks higher education and until it gets that its going to conitue its decline. Paducah is the largest city in the US without a 4 year college. if you want to see the power of universities.. look at the Triad area of NC.. until MSU and the State of KY get off their rear and realize that more colleges and univeristies, don't cuase problems, but fooster healthy competion, and growth.. Paducah will rot. you want industry.. give us PSU and it will come.
what I would like to see in Paducah
 By: Brenda - 2003-06-05

Hello, I agree with several of the comments above. First I agree that we do need a four year college in Paducah. My daughter is having to go to SIU to obtain her Physician Assistant degree and I myselt had to go to McKendree college in Lebanon Ill. for my degree. Second I believe we need more entertainment in Paducah as well, there is not much to do here, maybe a large waterpark, zoo, a park with rides; something like six flags would be great. Paducah also needs a bypass from Lone Oak (highway 45) Western Baptist Hospital/ and or Ky Oaks Mall area. Lone Oak traffic is a nightmare!!! There is 19 red lights from highway 45 to Western Baptist Hospital and for people coming into Paducah from Graves Co. this is very dishearting! We have to Hospitals in the area with limited highway access to them. Both the Park and Highway building would create jobs, and if we improve such things people will come to this area, then we can work on other area needs that Paducah has. Thanks.
 strippers
 By: pete - 2003-09-04

we can see stripers but can't seem to get any jobs hummmm!

i know lets built another church, ha ha ha ha ha

how about a state university in paducah

everybody say in unison we want what we want not what we need.
 What Paddy needs
 By: Jay Bird - 2004-12-30

It needs more places like the run down Executive Hotel, like Wallerstein's, like Readmore's, like the Illinois Central Shops, like Noble Park Haunted House ride, like another craft/quilting mall, like another golf course like...... NOT! We need technology, industry, an updated Ky Lakes Area to draw more tourism, and [as Brenda has stated]an improved highway around Lone Oak...
 What Paducah needs..
 By: Ms. Michel'le - 2006-06-19

More Jobs that actually pay better then miminum wage.
Factories, etc..
They also need a teen club for the kids to go hang out instead of parking lots. More attention needs to be given to the downtown area instead of the Mall.
