 Paducah Improvements
 By: Lloyd C. Emery - (Granbury, Texas) - 2000-02-27

Having grown up in Paducah and lived there for most of my life, I feel its best asset is the vast river systems in the area. Paducah needs to take advantage of this and build a marina at the foot of Broadway in the area out in front of Whaler's Catch and Paducah Tent and Awning. All this area now is a Parking lot and wasted space that's an eye sore. A marina facility would not only bring beauty to a much needed area, it would also bring a large amount of tourism and revenue. Just think of the possibilities, being able to keep your boat at a marina in Paducah instead of up at Kentucky or Barkley Lake or even Golconda, Illinois. Having unlimited business opportunities around the marina such as restaraunts or shops; easy access to the already existing downtown and lower town businesses. An overnight stop for tourists going up and down the rivers or maybe even an extended vacation. With my roots deep in this area and my forefathers founders of a lot of its heritage, I can't help but feel that they would be proud to see such an accomplishment come to pass. I am sure there would be many obstacles and I am not saying it would be easy, but dreams are only fulfilled with hard work and dedication. Paducah it is a wise business decision!

With Paducah so rich in culture, it's hard not to have fun Downtown. Many local talents show their skills Downtown after dark. The paintings on the Flood Wall have attracted many visitors. There are also many great places to eat. I suggest that anyone who has not had the pleasure, to take an afternoon and visit out historical Downtown Paducah. You won't be sorry!
