The Dafford Wall Murals
By: Susan Lauwereins - 2004-07-27
My great grandfather was Judge John W. Bloomfield, so we have a lot of our history rooted in Paducah. It was heart-warming to see the pictorial history done by Robert Dafford on the levee walls. I was extremely impressed by each mural; so much so that I took photos of each one. My brother thought they looked like postcards. I wondered if postcards were available. I also wanted to learn more about the history of this project. How did the city decided to do this and what was involved in selecting the artist. This work is a real prize as were a number of the streets that had been renovated.
I have just completed an historical documentary on our family. We had our first reunion at Lake Barkley.
Thanks for your website.
