I totally believe that it needs to be brought back into the schools! Teachers are unable to control the children because there is no fear there! I remember when I attended school you were sent to the principals office and he had a couple of paddles to choose from. If you were really really bad they had one that had holes in it. What are your thoughts?

I say SPANK THEIR ASS!!! That is what is wrong with these brats today! I remember spankings in school and today all these "Doctor Spock" brats get away with everything!!! One brat in my family has to be home schooled because he is such a brat and mean as hell! If he would just get his mean ass whipped, it would cure him for sure!!!

My son goes to Farley and says there's a kid in his class that causes problems all the time.
That's what happens when kids do not have any supervision at home.
I believe there should be spankings in school....but if these "I wanna be my kids friend" parents would whip there ass at home, the schools wouldn't have to.

Man, I remember the beatings my father used to give me...
There was this one time when he pulped my face after a bottle of Wild Turkey. Man, that hand used to come out of nowhere and the next thing you know there would be an explosion of stars and you'd wake up to a faceful of floor.

Really, I am asking for real. I am learning about Paducah because I am interested in the artist relocation program, but if you people are serious, I am going to run the other way.

Unfortunately, most of these postings are for real.There is abuse here,just as it is anywhere in the world. However, the principles held by these people are not held by all that reside here. You will find a diverse population in Paducah, however, you have to keep in mind where exactly Paducah lies, geographically speaking that is....right smack dab in the middle of The Bible Belt.That wonderful place of hell and damnation. But, there are good, open minded people here ,too. And they will most likely be found in the downtown area, where the artist's relocation project is. So, welcome. My father was an artist from the East coast and he said,"If you wear a pair of shoes out in Paducah, you will never leave. " He did just that and he lived the rest of his life here, quite happily, I might add. He was implemental in starting the Market House Theater and Yeiser Art Gallery. He also wanted to start an artist's relocation program ,but back in the 60's and 70's, Paducah wasn't ready for something like that.He opened a coffee house and the city shut him down....too far ahead of his time....but, that's life.So, if you move here, best of luck and have a great life.

Abuse here in Paducah???? This is exactly what is wrong with our society today. If a parent spanks their child, it is abuse. Then in the same breath right after you scream abuse, you wonder why in the hell everything is so messed up. I stongly beleive that if parents were stricter on their children, we wouldnt have some of the problems we have today. Kids nowadays get away with everything, and if they get in trouble it is all written off to " kids just being kids". To hell with all of you damn idiots that scream abuse when you see a kid get a spanking when he has been crying for 2 hours becuase he/she wanted a damn lollipop and didnt get what they wanted.

Are you saying there is NO abuse happening in Paducah ?? Come on, there is abuse in EVERY community.Do you remember the little boy that died from malnutrition? I would say that qualifies as abuse, don't you?? There have also been several cases of baby shaking incidents....... Abuse. There is a difference between discipline and abuse.

I was being satirical. I do not condone the abuse of children. I do, however, believe that most parents to-day are extremely lax in disciplining their children, but I draw the line at physically striking a child. This type of punishment is unhealthy and can be psychologically damaging.
