UFO in Paducah? anyone else see it? or am I crazy

Hey, something weird happened to me about 10 days ago. I am writing this to see if anyone can give me a reasonable explanation. At about 11 pm one night, I was outside my house smoking a cigarette. I was standing there in an enclosed porch when all of a sudden, out of the silence, it sounded like a missile went over the house. It's hard to explain a sound in writing, but it was a lighting fast whoosh sound that was EXTREMELY loud and EXTREMELY fast. It didn't shake the house, and it ceased as fast as it came. This happened between Hendron and Littleville near the railroad tracks. I didn't see anything because I was standing under a roof. I was so frightened that I didn't finish my cigarette and ran in the house like a scared little kid. I telephoned my friend who was driving en route to Paducah and she told me she heard on an Atlanta radio station about strange sightings in the night sky, something really fast with a vapor trail.
In addition, last week my brother said that he saw the weirdest looking airplane he had ever seen.
So my question is--Has anyone in the Paducah area seen or heard anything similar to what I described, or can anyone explain what that sound might have been?
There is an air force base not far from here in Missouri, but they don't do any testing there, do they?

Well you have the airport close by, and bases close by too. I would imagine it was some sort of military vehicle transporting something or someone.

Mandy, Have you ever herd of Fighter Jet? Maybe Paducah experienced a military fly over of F-16's or F-22's My guess is that since your close to a base, they could be doing training or testing of equipment, such as missiles. After all this is the 21st century.

Hey, bob, my goodness. I've never "herd" of a fighter jet. What's that? It sounds like a jet that fights. Duh!
No, but seriously, I've spent quite a lot of time around a naval air station that is the home of the aircraft tests and the sound that I heard is unlike anything I've ever heard flown. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Maybe it was a Stealth bomber, they are housed in Missouri, make virtually no noise and are . . . well, super fast.

When I was 12 my friend and I were playing in his backyard when a very odd looking plane passed overhead. At that time I was very interested in such things as fighter jets and aviation and knew a great deal about them, but this plane was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was all white, like maybe an experimental craft but I wasn't aware of any air force bases being nearby.
