Paducah Idol ..What a Joke !!!!!!!!

I went to the Paducah Idol contest on 6/25 at the local community college.
What a joke. This was supposed to be kind of like American Idol. In the newspaper it was stated that the winner would be encouraged to use the money to go to a regional audition of American Idol.
On a local radio website it stated that the winner would be going to American Idol.
So, what's the problem you ask?? Well, at least 2,if not three, of the finalists were too young to even audition for American Idol and 1 finalist appeared to be too old.
That's the problem, there were many talented young singers, perhaps hoping that this could give them a leg up in the entertainment industry. But, by picking either those that were either too old or too young, they missed their chance.
One of the finalists didn't even sing. They just did a few dance steps and was really cute because they were really young. A crowd pleaser, but not a talentd singer or dancer.
If the organizers of Paducah Idol had not spoken of encouraging the winner to go to American Idol and had treated it more like a singing contest than a general talent contest, I think a lot of people would have been less disappointed and felt like they were given a fair shake.
I don't know who 2 of the judges were, but they wouldn't recognize true singing talent if it bit them on the butt.
This really could have been a wonderful opportunity for some young singing talent, but instead it turned out to be a contest about who was the "cutest" and the best "crowd pleaser."
It was 5 dollars to get in and the money raised goes to support thre Summer Festival. They won't be getting any more money from me, if this is an indication on how the next 25 will fare on July 9.
My heart goes out to all the talented young women and men that performed that night and deserved to be finalists instead of most of the ones that did make it. This area has some awesome singing talent, too bad the judges were tone deaf.

I just happened to look at how many people viewed this thread and it was about 67, but only 1 person commented.
Do all of you have no opinions you would like to share or do you just read the threads and leave??
Strange.
It would be so much more interesting if people would voice their opinions on here and perhaps get some lively chatter going on.

I agree! Two of the winners were kids and one was so fake and silly. This talent show was definitly a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that the first set of finalists were tough talent and the best of the best and the second prelim group was not that strong. Wonder if they planned it that way?

Whatever, MusicExpert !!!!! You must not be MUCH of an expert because the winner should NOT have won. There were others that were MUCH more talented than the winner the deaf judges picked. And I mean MUCH,MUCH better.
You must be the winner, writing in to uplift yourself or you HAVE to be a friend or family member, because NOBODY would agree with you !!!

I agree, I think the winner of the contest was the best ever. The other people were not as good. If they did it all over, I'm sure it would have been the same result. It was the best show ever.

Nope, sorry, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I am not deaf.
And that's not a chip, it's just reality, not wishful thinking.Sorry if you are that tone deaf.
Sorry to disagree again, but there were much more talented people there than the chosen "winner."

For all of those complaining about the singers in the contest, why did you not get up on the stage and show your talents??? You can't knock it till you try it!!!

I believe I stated I couldn't sing.
It has nothing to do with "trying it."
It has all to do with a fair competition.
