 Dock Downtown on River Front
 By: FlyOnTheWall - 6/22/05 (8:32 AM)

Why in the Hell does it cost 3 Million $$ to build a dock on the riverfront downtown????? I suggest the local politicians all take drug tests because the are either Stoned or Stupid. That is ridiculous.

Well it seems maybe some people dont get my thinking about the project. Metropolis is building one also. Paducah is just following in their footsteps. Just seems that with Paducah already in the red, closing fire depts, firing ladies that keep paperwork organized for a cemetery, laying off anyone they can, why spend that much money to build a dock. And for Bob, where in the Hell else do you build a dock other than on a waterfront?!?!?

Why didn't Bush's tax cuts stimulate the economy enough so every city and state in America would not be running in the red? I was sooooo sure that was going to work. I don't agree with you much Fly, but building a dock for 3 million is about as dumb as building the four rivers center. Every small town in the midwest has been going through the same thing. They lose all of their manufacturing jobs and try to make up for it by building something stupid for a Gizillion dollars to try to replace the tax revenues and econimic activity we lose to Mexico and soon Latin America everyday. If anyone in Paducah lets these guys get away with something this stupid we all deserve what we get. That money needs to go basic and social service programs in this county.

But the tax payers $$ has to go towards something. What better than to build a dock no one will use. Unless you like riding around in a contaminated river then jumping off to have an overpriced dinner. Hey, maybe you'll run into Paxton while paying $7 for a martini at some classy joint stuffed with overpaid politicians who like to corrupt society and cover it up with an artsy fartsy facade.

jessamy - you seem to have a good handle on the corruption going on in Paducah. People may say, oh, they are the naysayers, but, those are the folks who are to blind or so deep in financial waters that they can't leave. You are right on......

Well, there is usually a consistent flow of boats at the riverfront, so I think they are just hoping to provide something nicer for them and attract more boaters. If they are going to continue hosting pro fishing tournaments every year, it's probably a good investment.

Besides, if you want more than that little rusted out mini-barge that used to float on the edge of the river, you gotta spend some cash.
