What's the danger in saying if you know someone? I've been trying to locate old friends in Paducah too over the internet,what is wrong with that?

The danger of it is this...
if those names were women's names, the person looking for them, could be old boyfriends or husbands, that may want to do them harm. Likewise, it has been known to happen to men also.
