 New Smoking Ban
 By: Smoking Joe - 9/28/06 (1:49 AM)

Any restaurant that bans smoking will surely lose business. That means layoffs and people without jobs. That means you and I will have to pay higher taxes to help these people because Mayor Paxton doesn't want to LEAD this city, he wants to be safe and follow in the footsteps of other cities. That's a coward's way out. I guess the idiots running this city have forgotten that KY is one of the biggest tobacco producers in US history.

I also can't understand how they can make decisions like that.
I'd much rather be in a bar with smoker than on a city bus with people coughing all around me or in Lourdes or Western Baptist having to wait to see a Doctor with people coughing all around me. Think that might be banned next? Hey Mayor, there's your next goal. Ban coughing in public!

Smoking or not, when just a few decide what is good for others or what is not, they have too much power of the wrong kind.

Each business should be the *only* determining factor in this or any other matter affecting their livelihood, and not anyone else. They are the ones, that have worked to get their businesses going, and to keep them going.

Disclaimer: I do not own any establishment that will be affected by this new law.

The bar owners here pay quite a bit for their license. When they eventually are run out of business by these so called "Do Gooders", where do you think the City is going to get money to make up for them? Us of course. Not the councilmen that spend every waking day trying to figure out new ways to legally rob us. I do not own a business either but if a person starts an honest business, pays their taxes and operates within the limits of the law, I don't believe the City should tell them what they can do inside their businesses. The people of Paducah need to wake up and decide if they want these people deciding the fate of this city.
