One of the best bass fishing lakes in Kentucky is located at the edge of Dawson Springs, and at the center of Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. Lake Beshear is also known for white crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, longear sunfish, channel catfish and blue catfish.

    This area consists of a hilly terrain that is primarily timbered. Deer, turkey, quail, and squirrel are found here. Food, lodging, camping, and recreational facilities are available at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. Fishing is allowed in Beshear and Pennyrile lakes.

    There are no roads within this area, which consists of sloping hills, ridge top flats, narrow valleys primarily in hardwood forests with some overgrown fields in bottoms. Squirrel, deer, rabbit, fox, raccoon, groundhog, and grouse can be found here. Fishing for trout, channel catfish, bass, crappie, and bluegill is allowed in 34-acre Bert Combs Lake. No camping.
