Each year this international contest organized by The National Quilt Museum challenges quiltmakers to create an innovative quilt based on a specific traditional pattern. An exhibit of the winners opens at the museum and then travels for one year. The opening exhibit is unique as it combines these contemporary art quilts with antique quilts of the same pattern. Sponsored by Clover, Janome and Moda.
Welcome to The National Quilt Museum of the United States. A real world quilt museum with a collection, changing exhibits, workshops, festivals, a gift shop and more. Colors and designs flourish inside this attraction newly designated as The National Quilt Museum of the United States. The museum has three amazing galleries that showcase more than 150 quilts at a time.
Gerald Roy, Nationally-known appraiser of Warner, New Hampshire, will offer professional assessments of new and old quilts. Each appraisal consists of a description of the quilt in terms of pattern, fabrics, techniques, quality of construction, condition, confirmation of information known by the current owner with replacement value and an approximate date of quilt.
It's all about quilts - quilt shows, quilt books, quilt contests, quilting news and a society dedicated to quilters. Make your plans now to attend the annual AQS Quilt Show and Contest. Once again, the staff at AQS is planning 4 wonderful days of beautiful quilts, plenty of classes in the AQS School of Quiltmaking, great special events, and the Southern hospitality of the Paducah community.
In 1984 Bill and Meredith Schroeder founded American Quilter’s Society (AQS) in Paducah, Kentucky after discovering a need for the worldwide recognition of the beauty of quilting as an art form. AQS continues to support the accomplishments of todays quilters by promoting the study and development of quilts.
