The early days of the old Tabernacle with its sawdust floors and hand held fans formed the foundation for Allen County's deep gospel roots. Every September the Allen County Singing Convention was held here. "The Tabernacle" stands within the city limits of Scottsville on highway 100 East.

  • Barren River Lake is situated in Allen and Barren counties in South Central Kentucky. Barren River Lake was authorized under the Flood Control Act of 1938. The Louisville District of the U-S Army Corps of Engineers designed, built and operates the project for flood control and recreation. Barren River Lake was impounded in 1964 and the dam is about 10 miles east of Scottsville, Kentucky.
