West Kentucky Community & Technical College (WKCTC) presents national touring productions of theatre, dance, and music as well as acoustic musicians in a casual coffeehouse setting. Also college productions and visual art displays.

The arts in FOCUS Series has successfully presented national touring productions of theatre, dance, and musical attractions for thirty-seven years. Along with the touring company productions, the series includes West Kentucky

Community and Technical College Theatre and Music Department productions and visual arts displays.
Educational outreach activities include matinee performances of touring company and WKCTC productions for regional schools, master classes in dance and musical theatre, and acting workshops with professional performers.

FOCUS Facts

  • The arts in FOCUS Series has successfully presented national touring productions of theatre, dance, and musical attractions for forty two years. Along with the touring company productions, the series includes West Kentucky Community and Technical College Theatre and Music Department productions and visual arts displays.
  • Educational outreach activities include matinee performances of touring companies and WKCTC productions for regional schools, master classes in dance and musical theatre, and acting workshops with professional performers.
  • Children from the Neighborhood After School Program received complimentary tickets to most events.
  • Participating schools are provided with study guides on the internet and question and answer sessions with the director, cast and crew. Students from over 22 counties in this region from three states attend productions.

Arts in Focus Goals

Performing arts programming and educational arts
n 2009-2010, the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Arts in FOCUS Series will provide the community with diverse performing arts programming and educational arts and humanities activities. Your support is needed as we enter the 42nd season of performing and visual arts programming at WKCTC.

The FOCUS Series will keep you coming back for more! Be amazed by Barrage, a high-octane string group featuring an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. Remember the 60’s and 70’s with the music of John Lennon and the Beatlesin the timeless songs of Leiber and Stoller in Smokey Joe’s Café. Last but not least, Roger and Hammersteins's South Pacific will keep your toes tapping to its familiar tunes.

Clemens Fine Art Gallery
The Clemens Fine Arts Center at West Kentucky Community and Technical College is home to the Arts in FOCUS Series featuring musical theatre, plays, dance and concerts. Additional programming includes acoustic musicians in a casual coffeehouse setting, cutting edge entertainment geared to students, keynote speakers, and visual arts. Exhibit area of WKCTC Clemens Fine Art Center. Features work of local and regional artists.

The Clemens Fine Arts Center is a great facility to take in a show at and is just extremely comfortable. Tim Piper captures John Lennon with visual impact, incredible sound and excitement.

Backstage Pass features acoustic musician in a coffee house setting on the WKCTC stage, Desserts and beverages are available, Ticket will be sold at the door only.

Public Tennis Courts
Lighted courts open to public year-round as available. Admission: $20 adults,$12 students & children.

  • Jenny Wiley Theatre is Kentucky’s only professional theatre east of I-75, offering productions all year long at both the Jenny Wiley amphitheater, located within the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, and the nearby Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.

  • The Capitol Arts Center has an illustrious history in the arts and culture of south-central Kentucky. Originally built as a vaudeville house in the late 1890’s, the Columbia Theatre was redesigned as a movie house in the mid-1930’s and renamed the Capitol Theatre. Presenting movies for more than three decades, the theater closed its doors in 1967.

  • The Symphony at WKU has been performing for enthusiastic audiences since 1908. Most recently, the Orchestra performs five symphonic concerts which include Masterworks, Pops, and Family concerts. In 2003, The Symphony at WKU began presenting professional chamber ensembles in its Chamber Series to make available more diverse opportunities for live classical music performances in our community.
