Movies made by filmmakers from across the globe will be viewed over four days in three downtown venues; built around the showing of quality independent film from around the world and on the film maker, offering opportunities for exhibition, education, and networking with contemporaries. The selection includes films in the following genres: narrative, documentary, animated, experimental films in both short and long form, narrative feature, narrative short, a little dusty and home grown. The show is a unique, entertaining, family-friendly series that makes a significant social statement and educates people about dwarfism.

Rivers Edge Film Festival or REFF is destined for greatness. Bringing independent film to the smart, arts-oriented, mid-American river town of Paducah, Kentucky is an easy transition to make. A showing of quality independent films with indoor and outdoor film screening, filmmakers party, open forum and discussion, juried and awarded prizes throughout the festival part of the growing cultural and performing arts scene in this historic American river town. The winning film will be entered into the Filmapalooza festival in Las Vegas in 2010. That will also make the movie eligible to appear in the Cannes International Film Festival.

This year the festival held in two venues--Maiden Alley Cinema, and Yeiser Art Center, which are within one block of one another. Paducah already has a burgeoning visual and performing arts scene, and the film festival is right in the center of this cultural hub. Downtown Paducah offers great theatre, films in a number of welcoming and comfortable locations, and enjoy the scenic landscape and temperate weather in-between, eclectic shopping and exquisite art galleries along a beautiful river front. The Vision of the Paducah Film Society is to become the leading regional arts organization dedicated to enhancing culture through film. The Mission of the Paducah Film Society is to use film to provide entertainment, promote visual literacy, create cross-cultural awareness, promote filmmaking as an art form.     Held late February. A weekend celebration featuring a parade, children's activities, music and masquerade ball.

  • The Official Kentucky Labor Day Parade and picnic, barbecue, live music, political stump speakers, arts and crafts, flea market, live music, & political speakers. Western Kentucky Labor Day Committee will also have flea market and yard sale at Carson Park, Joe Clifton at 28th & Madison St., 7a.m. to 7p.m.

  • Celebrate Celtic heritage during this three-day, annual September festival with events including children's activities, dancers, athletes, and pipe and drum bands. Since its inception in 1996, the West Kentucky Highland Festival has been the place to be every fall in West Kentucky.
