This area can be accessed by several perimeter roads. The area consists of rolling hills with some old fields, two-thirds in hardwood forest. Deer, squirrel, grouse, quail, turkey, otter, wood duck, and furbearers can be found here. No camping is allowed on the management area. Fishing and boating are available.

Paintsville Lake WMA is located approximately 4 mi. NW of Paintsville on old Hwy. 460.

  • 1,260 acres in Clay Co.

    There are no roads within this area, which consists of sloping hills, ridge top flats, narrow valleys primarily in hardwood forests with some overgrown fields in bottoms. Squirrel, deer, rabbit, fox, raccoon, groundhog, and grouse can be found here. Fishing for trout, channel catfish, bass, crappie, and bluegill is allowed in 34-acre Bert Combs Lake. No camping.

  • 12,764 acres in Lawrence Co.

    This area consists of hilly, wooded terrain with old fields. An observation area is located above reconstructed wetlands. Squirrel, grouse, deer, rabbit, quail, woodcock, turkey, raccoon, and numerous songbirds can be found here. No ATVs or camping are allowed on the management area.

  • 3,559 acres in Knott Co.

    This area consists of rough, mountainous terrain primarily forested with big hardwoods and some brushy areas. Deer, squirrel, grouse, and furbearers can be found here. Camping is
    allowed in the corps-maintained campgrounds only. Fishing and boating are available at Carr Fork Lake.

    Carr Fork WMA is located 20 mi. E of Hazard on KY 15.
