The 240-seat proscenium theater is a model of adaptive use. 141 Kentucky Ave., in the historic Market House. Offers a variety of performances and productions throughout the year. Drama and live musical performances enhance the spirit of this historic rivertown. In addition to the Market House Theatre, the Carson Four Rivers Center offers a wide variety of entertainment, cultural and educational programs.

The Market House Theatre was voted one of the Top 25 community theaters in the country. The Market House Theatre is a regional theatre in dowtown Paducah that hosts plays and musicals featuring local actors. The theatre is located in the historic Market House building in downtown Paducah. In addition to performances, it also offers acting classes for children.

Market House Theatre has also won national recognition with awards at every state competition it has entered. Located in the historic Market House Building, the theatre has also been a centerpiece of historic restoration in downtown Paducah.

The Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, provides operational support funding for Market House Theatre with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

On stage, the Market House Theatre is one of Paducah’s gems. The theater group dates back to 1963 and offers entertainment, as well as training, in the historic Market House building downtown. The newest venue for the arts is the $44 million Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center, which provides a spectacular riverfront setting for musical performances, theater, ballet and more. The Market House Museum has rotating historical exhibits, as well as a replica of the List Drug Store.

Then take advantage of the Market House Theatre River City Ghost Walking Tours the following Saturday nights, Oct. 10, 17 and 24. Market House Theatre performers will act as guides and tell the ghost stories associated with each stop along the way. Tour guides are Paducah residents Jody Smith, Phil Counts, Chris Black, Marsha Cash, Jim Roush, Kim Yocum and Michael Cochran.

The Market House Theatre develops and nurtures local residents to become performers through arts education classes and the production of plays. The organization brings theatre into the schools, using arts educator residencies and helps schools use theatre as a teaching tool for math, science, social studies, history and literacy. Market House Theatre also is committed to providing a safe place to explore difficult social issues that affect the community through the performance of plays and audience "talk back" conversations.
