Remembrance of the Holocaust
by Press Release (March 25, 2004)
On Sunday, April 18, 2004, Lourdes Foundation will observe Holocaust Remembrance Day by inviting Jews and Christians to come together for a moving arrangement of classical music and spiritual readings that reflect on the tragedy of the Holocaust. All are invited to the Second Annual Concert for the Remembrance of the Holocaust at 7 p.m. in St. Thomas More Church, Paducah, Kentucky. A cocktail reception will follow the performance.
Special remarks and musical selections will be presented by Rabbi Joel Simon, with readings provided by Frances Cooper of Temple Israel and Rev. Patrick Reynolds of St. Thomas More. Classical music performances will be performed by Murray State University students and faculty.
“With recent events such as the vandalism of Temple Israel, this annual Holocaust Remembrance Concert is more important than ever,” said Missy Hendley, director of Lourdes Foundation. “We want to extend a hand to our friends at Temple Israel and stand by them to reflect on the tragic history of the Holocaust.”
“The annual Holocaust concert is part of our commitment at Lourdes to serve people of all faiths, both medically and spiritually,” said Dr. Bill Wheeler, Lourdes president/CEO. “This event is inspired by Marshall Nemer, who built bridges between Jews and Christians through his many years of service and volunteerism at Lourdes.”
Please RSVP to attend by calling the Lourdes Foundation (270) 444-2353.
