Mardi Gras & All That Jazz!

by Press Release (January 22, 2003)

Mark your calendar for Fat Tuesday, March 4, to celebrate the sights and sounds of festive New Orleans. Lourdes Foundation’s Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! will feature the swingin’ music of Dr. Ted Borodofsky’s Southern Jazz and enough gourmet cuisine and spirits from area restaurants to fill the Mississippi River Delta! This fundraiser to benefit the Foundation’s efforts to support Hospice care will be held at J.R.’s Executive Inn from 6 to 9 p.m.

Get a French Quarter feeling, complete with sidewalk cafés, a Mardi Gras parade and Le Galerie d’Art featuring local artists. Artists exhibiting and selling works in Le Galerie include Purchase Area Painters Alliance (PAPA) members, PCC fine arts students, Bettie Griffin, Avery Crounse and Kijsa Housman. And speaking of local artists, Bill Ford’s original artwork—created especially for this event—will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Also, original limited edition 5x7 prints of an exclusive etching commemorating Mardi Gras & All That Jazz will be for sale. Each piece is signed and numbered by nationally renowned artist Mark Barone.

Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! is a resurrection of the Gourmet Gala, one of Paducah’s premiere charity events for eight years. Lourdes Foundation is brushing the dust off this once-heralded event and giving it a touch of Mardi Gras for what promises to be a magical, fun-filled evening to raise money for The Lourdes Foundation to assist with Hospice services. Come enjoy great food and drink from Outback Steakhouse, Flamingo Row, Whaler’s Catch, Little Edibles, Lourdes, Pasta House Co., Hello Catering, Patti’s, Harrah’s, SophistiCatering, Party Mart, Roof Brothers, Charmed I’m Sure coffee bar, and Coca-Cola.

Corporate sponsors making Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! possible are: Community Owned Utilities (Jackson Purchase Energy, Joint Sewer Agency and Paducah Water Works), Denton & Keuler Attorneys, KDA Holdings, Lourdes Auxiliary, Superior Care Home and Rehab Center, Taco John’s, Calvert City Lumber/Commercial Door & Hardware, Milner & Orr Funeral Homes, Morningside Assisted Living, Paducah Bank, Pinnacle Inc., Peck & Milford CPA, MeadWestvaco, Swift & Staley Electric, and Paducah Knights of Columbus.

Hospice fulfills the mission and core values of Lourdes by touching the lives of terminally ill patients and their families. “At a time when a family is faced with losing a loved one, it is great help to know their loved one is being taken care of,” said Ellen Wood, whose husband Glen recently lost his three-year battle with cancer. “Hospice helped us prepare and kept Glen comfortable and in his own home until the end.”

Tickets for Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! are $75 per couple, $40 for single tickets, and $600 for a limited number of tables for eight.

To purchase tickets or reserve a table, call 444-2353 or email tcamacho@lourdes-pad.org.
