Gores IGA
by Corey Dunn (July 22, 2002)
What began as a small family business over 50 years ago became a local landmark. Unfortunately, some landmarks do not last forever. On July 31st, 2002 Gore’s IGA closed its doors forever.
Everyone who has watched area television will remember with a smile, commercials for the supermarket with owner Bill Gore giving us the “thumbs-up” while telling us “At Gore’s, we do it right!” They certainly did. The business has undoubtedly had a positive impact on our local economy since virtually everyone knows someone who has worked at Gore’s at one time or another.
Union Planter’s bank in Lone Oak celebrated Bill Gore’s accomplishments and service to our community. Here are a few pictures for you to browse.
