Lourdes Foundation’s Concert for the Rem

by Press Release (April 11, 2005)

On Tuesday, May 3, 2005, Lourdes Foundation will observe Holocaust Remembrance Day by inviting Jews and Christians to join together for a moving arrangement of classical music, spiritual readings and special survivor stories that reflect on the tragedy of the Holocaust. All are invited to the Third Annual Concert for the Remembrance of the Holocaust at 7 p.m. at Temple Israel, 330 Joe Clifton Drive, Paducah, Kentucky. A reception will follow the performance.

Special readings will be presented by Frances Cooper of Temple Israel and Rev. Patrick Reynolds of St. Thomas More. A memorial candle lighting ceremony will be held, and Jack Leifer of Temple Israel will cantor. The experiences of former Paducah resident and concentration camp survivor Ursula Gold will also be presented. Classical music performances will be conducted by Murray State University students and faculty.

“The annual Holocaust concert is part of our commitment at Lourdes to serve people of all faiths, both medically and spiritually,” said Dr. Bill Wheeler, Lourdes president/CEO. “We are proud to reflect our mission in action through this important community event.”

“We are pleased to partner with Lourdes Foundation for the Holocaust Concert,” said Frances Cooper, president of Temple Israel, “and look forward to welcoming the community to Temple Israel to remember the sadness of this horrific event.”

Please RSVP to attend by calling the Lourdes Foundation (270) 444-2353.
