Facilities and Volunteer information
PARKING
Plenty of parking is available in the municipal parking lot located at the intersection of Second Street and Broadway Avenue. There is also street parking along Kentucky Avenue and on both sides of the Market House Square.
SMOKING AREAS
Smoking is prohibited inside the Market House Theatre. Those wishing to smoke may do so outside the building.
ACCESSIBILITY FOR MOBILITY DISABILITIES
The facility is at street level. When arriving for a performance, our new lobby allows wheelchair entrance into the theatre. Theatre rows are staggered, allowing wheelchair patrons equal access to all sections of the theatre. Wheelchair accessible restrooms with grab bars and accessible height mirrors and paper towel dispensers are located in our adjacent studio theatre building.
HEARING IMPAIRED
We have assistive listening systems. MainStage and Youth Season productions have sign language interpretation at certain performances. Contact the theatre for information on performance dates.
VISUAL DISABILITIES
Braille signage has been placed on restroom doors.
SPACE RENTAL
Space rental is available, although limited, through out the year. The main theatre rents for $300 a day. The Studio space rents for $150 per day and Classroom space rent for $150 per day. Both spaces combined can be rented for $275 per day. Please contact the Theatre for more information.
TOURS
Tours of the theatre can be scheduled year round through the box office. Schools, scouting groups, and other civic youth groups can receive a free tour and a short workshop of the theatre . Schools should contact the MHT Education Director for scheduling at 270.444.9084.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Do you have an interest in volunteering some of your time to work with one of the greatest community theatres in the four state region? We have a wide variety of opportunities for individuals, civic groups and other organizations to assist in event planning and production. Such opportunities include:
Behind The Scenes: Sewing, painting, carpentry, electrical, sound, dressers, set changers, light/sound board operators, custodial, go-fer, reading plays;
Behind The Desk: Answering phones, stuffing envelopes, copying, filing, typing, go-fer, computer work, bulk mailing, scrapbook photo album;
In The Lobby: Ushers, house manager, intermission refreshments, show ticket clerk, daytime ticket clerk, ticket followup;
In The Community: Putting up posters, putting up table tents, marquees, selling program ads;
Hospitality: Receptions, special events, volunteer appreciation.

CLASSES
FOOTLIGHTS - Four youth acting troupes for grades 1-12 meet throughout the school year on Saturday mornings for acting classes and performance opportunities. Fee: $50.00 per trimester. Classes are held in MHT’s Studio Theatre classroom, 120 Market House Square downtown Paducah. Also arrange individual Youth Classes, Adult Classes.
Youth performance opportunities: FOOTLIGHTS - Four youth acting troupes. Students receive classes in acting, theatre games and improvisation as well as have the opportunity to volunteer to assist in crew positions for MHT's MainStage season. Each troupe also produces an annual show, in which everyone who is a member of the troupe is cast. Classes are held on Saturday mornings in MHT's classroom located at 120 Market House Square.
