Charity League of Paducah, KY - Charity League’s Snowball

The mission of the nonprofit volunteer organization Charity League, Inc., includes raising funds for Easter Seals West Kentucky and assisting other local nonprofits for the care of children, women and others in need. Charity League of Paducah was organized in March 1932 with 16 members for the purpose of starting a lending library. The Charity League now has 50 active members and more than 250 associate members. Dog and horse shows, art exhibits, the President’s Birthday Ball, and a summer féte on the lawn of the E.B. Fergerson home were just a few of the fundraisers produced by the League.

Today, the primary interest of the Charity League is to raise money for Easter Seals West Kentucky with projects including Snowball, Bargain Fair, Golf Scramble, and Thyme to Entertain cookbook sales. The group also creates a legacy of friendship and community.

2008 was a “Follies Year”. The long practices were worth it because “Have a Nice Day” was a great show with some awesome „70s music also had a great time working with Michael Cochran and the team from Market House Theatre. The show directed by MHT Artistic Director Michael Cochran. Needed are soloist and ensemble vocalist and dancers. HAVE A NICE A NICE DAY featured classic 70’s music with songs like Leaving on a Jet Plane, California Dreamin, Gypsy Tramps and Thieves, Sunny, Sunshine on My Shoulder and many more.

80th anniversary of The Charity League’s Snowball had lot of fun — and you can bet that nobody looks as gorgeous at 80 as this group of great gals! Have a great time celebrating the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. Some Snowball attendees even witnessed a marriage proposal between Kenn Gray and Kendra Thompson on the stage. Now that‟s the way to start a new year. The Respectables from Nashville, Tenn., provided the music, and guests enjoyed a chocolate fountain from Simply Unique. The event raised $12,100 for Easter Seals West Kentucky and more than $2,000 for Starfish Orphan Ministry.
